When people commission you, then decide not to pay you.

I've been doing work for this guy for the past 6 months or so, working on various projects like doing monster pictures, icons for rings and armor, you name it.

The monster picture bit has been a complete hassle. Originally he wanted 300 of them, 300x300px, done with a transparent bg. Ok, fine. I start working, everything is great. Well, then he wants me to pause that to do other projects like the armor, the rings, even a pumpkin picture; I did the pumpkin for free. Most of it I took in-game things for, but the last bit I wanted RL cash for money for Christmas. He decides a month (Maybe two?) ago that he wants someone else, someone cheaper and faster, to do the monster images.

Alright, fine. Not having to do them allowed me to do other things... like pics for DA here.

He has me do a wedding ring set, that pumpkin pic, and zip them all INCLUDING the monster pictures and send them to him. He said he'd pay me for the work I already did.


Then he started going MIA from the site. I don't know wtf is up, no one does. I don't think he's avoiding because of the pics, but in the end it doesn't matter because I can't get ahold of him for payment. Finally last night I talked to him about it, and by this point I'd decided I would take in-game stuff just to make sure I freaking got paid....


And he tells me he won't pay for the monster pics.

He WON'T pay me for them?

For VIRTUAL THINGS?

Things that won't even COST HIM MONEY?



I'm so mad right now. I feel hurt and betrayed, and that's the worst of it. Each picture took between 1-3 hours to make, and there were roughly 45 of them. The only reason I sent them to him before payment was given was because I trusted him. He was great before; I had no reason to doubt he would be different now.

He told me last night he wouldn't buy the images because they weren't a complete set, and because they're not a complete set they're worthless.


I'm just.. floored by it. By someone who was great before and is completely different now. He told me too that he'd be happy to pay for them if I did the entire set... which isn't 300 pics anymore, it's now 600 images.

Six hundred? When I didn't get paid for the first 45?

No thank you.


So, I don't know. The pics don't do me any good... and I think, on that note, I'll be offering them up on DA for anyone who wants to use them. What's the point of holding onto them anymore?
